Indigo Zulu Ink
Hi, I’m Izy, founder of Indigo Zulu Ink.
I have been drawing and painting on and off for about 20 years, but it wasn’t until 2020 that I picked up my pen with real purpose and discovered my passion for drawing with ink.
In 2019, my world turned upside down when I suffered a TIA (also known as a mini stroke). It knocked my confidence and took away my ability to write, something I have had to relearn (there are still days when I can write easily, and some days when I just can’t). It also forced me to reassess the way I live my life, and prioritise the things I enjoy, one of which is drawing.
Art has always been my go-to for quiet, peace and relaxation, and when the pandemic struck, I had never needed it more. Living in South Devon and working for a military charity, I didn’t need to look far for inspiration, and I soon realised that the helicopters, ships and submarines I was drawing really suited my style. The more pieces I completed, the more I saw there was a market for them, and what had started as a passion project slowly began to grow into a small business.
Since then, I have been fortunate enough to receive commission requests from RNAS Yeovilton, 40 & 42 Commando, Royal Marines, HMS Severn and 814 NAS as well as several private collectors. For every piece that goes off to a new home I intend to donate a percentage of the profit to the Royal British Legion and the Royal Marines Charity - I am so delighted to be able to combine doing something I love with supporting our armed forces.
