The stark, often disconcerting,  descriptions of endurance and courage reveal a Company of Royal Marines who bonded together so closely in adversity that their camaraderie and mutual trust persist to this day. Tony Sickelmore, has sensitively but brilliantly compiled their memories in this fascinating book.  As always amongst British soldiers, the sardonic but affectionate humour between them never wavered, despite fear, fatigue, or exposure, as well as significant threats from air strikes or artillery, while confronting an established and numerically superior enemy.
